Learning is an infinite journey. Make it the journey of a lifetime!
During our lifetime, we learn many things. However, in most cases we do not learn how to learn in less time, more effectively, with less effort and greater pleasure, especially in adulthood.
I set out to do just that, i.e., make lifelong learning an ongoing, conscious, self-determined discovery, tailored to the individual and his or her personal or professional requirements.
Learning can and should be a pleasure as well as fast, effective and profound.
We learn through firsthand experiences, observation, reflection, abstract and theoretical concepts as well as through attributing meaning and value to information.
However, possessing learning skills means having an extra gear; it means knowing how to learn and being able to seize every learning opportunity: reading, observing, listening carefully, taking notes, organising information and content, emulating behaviours, rehearsing, hands-on experience and last but not least, playing.
From scientific research, we know that learning by playing, that is to say using ‘serious games’ and ‘gamification’ can increase the effectiveness of learning remarkably. It has been shown that when adults learn using games, their motivation, engagement, mnemonic retention and depth of learning expand. It has also been observed that learning games, by providing immediate feedback to learners and thus monitoring progress, facilitate changes at behavioural level and promote the ability and willingness to collaborate.
